Fun fact
In shoemaking, the piece that joins the heel to the shoe is called a dove joint — in French, a joint homme-femelle. That is where our tradition comes from: our heels carry men’s names — after the engineers and designers who created them — and our shoes carry women’s names. Ivy is named after my grandmother: a determined scientist in 1920s India.
